Creation in Genesis

This exercise is designed to help students recognize significant differences between the accounts of creation in Genesis 1.1-2.4a and Genesis 2.4b-2.25 and to begin to ask questions about the meaning of these differences.

How is chaos represented, i.e. what exists when the deity begins to create? What does not exist?
What name is used for the Creator?
How many days are mentioned?
What things are created?
What is the order in which things are created?
What does the Creator do? What verbs are used for the Creator's actions?
How would you describe the literary form of the account?
How might you explain the differences between the two accounts?
