Career Options for History Majors

History is sometimes thought of as a humanities discipline, and sometimes as a social science. The school's emphasis doesn't really matter; the history major probably knows something about political science, sociology, anthropology, archaeology, or economics.

Many employers perceive that history majors have a good blend of general knowledge and analytical writing skill. Depending on the student, this may or may not be true, but it helps in the job search. Never forget the possibilities of government work, TESL (see Careers for English Majors for some links), or even the Peace Corps.
