Understanding and appreciating world cultures is a core element in the Maryville College curriculum. Over the past few years study trips have been arranged to provide this emphasis experientially. These courses usually take place during the 3-week January Term; they combine travel to important historical and cultural sites with focused learning. Professors design the courses and accompany the trips; advanced reading lists are provided; participants are encouraged to keep journals; there are lectures and group sharing sessions along the way.
