Community Patron Policy
Use of Maryville College
Library’s facilities, equipment, and documents is available to the public within the Lamar Memorial Library. Some electronic databases and other
services, however, are restricted to Maryville College students, faculty, and
staff. The guidelines regarding the services, such as borrowing privileges,
applicable to Community Patrons (non-Maryville College students, faculty, or
staff) are outlined in the following policy.
- Community Patrons are charged an annual fee
of $15.00. This annual fee is waived for alumni of Maryville College.
- Community Patrons cannot borrow books for
classes taken at other academic institutions. This includes persons
enrolled at other colleges, universities or students enrolled in area
primary or secondary schools.
- Community Patrons need a valid registration
card to check-out library materials.
- Community Patrons can borrow up to 4 books
at any one time, with no more than 2 books on one subject. In the case of
fiction, no more than 2 books by the same author can be borrowed at one
time. Community patrons may not check-out videos.
- The loan period for books is 21-days.
- The fine for overdue books is $.10 per item
per day.
- Community Patrons will not
be allowed to check-out other library materials until all overdue books are
returned and fines are paid.
- Materials overdue more than 30 days will
be assumed lost. The patron will then be billed an estimated item
replacement cost of $40.00 plus a $25.00 processing fee. If materials are
returned after replacement billing, fines are adjusted to the overdue
amount.
- The Maryville College Library reserves the
right to limit or deny the use of materials or facilities to Community
Patrons who abuse their privileges.
