Books and articles not available at the Maryville College Library may be requested from lending institutions through the Interlibrary Loan (ILL) process. We will not fill requests for items that are owned by or may be accessed from the Maryville College Library.
- Hours: Interlibrary Services are available during regular library hours. For assistance before 9:00 A.M., please ask at the Circulation Desk. After 9:00 A.M., requests can be made at the "Ask Here" desk.
- Interlibrary Loan Request Forms: Print forms are available at the "Ask Here" Desk. Online forms are available through McQuest. The form must be completed accurately for each item requested. Please provide as much information as possible in order to expedite ILL requests. Please use one form per request.
- Fees: There is no fee for interlibrary loans.
- Expected Arrival: The amount of time it takes to receive ILL materials varies with each request. Generally, journal articles can be expected between 3 and 7 days; books should arrive between 7 and 14 days.
- Notification of Arrival: When the requested book arrives, students are notified via campus mail. Books can be picked-up at the "Ask Here" desk. Photocopies are sent directly to student boxes.
- Loan Period: The loan period for most ILL books is three weeks. ILL materials must be returned by the date indicated on the book.
- Fines: There are no fines for overdue ILL materials. However, failure to return ILL materials by the due date on two separate occasions will result in the Interlibrary Service privileges being Revoked.
- Renewal: If a renewal is needed, the requestor must notify Roger Myers at X8259 three days before the due date. Not all lending institutions grant renewals.
- Recall: Books and other returnable items borrowed through Interlibrary Services are subject to immediate recall, if the lending library so requests.
- Replacement: If an Interlibrary Service item is lost, stolen, or damaged, the requestor must pay the replacement cost charged by the lending library.
- Copyright: The library complies with U.S. copyright restrictions and will refuse Interlibrary Service requests that violate those regulations.
The library reserves the right to refuse Interlibrary Services to anyone who has abused Maryville College library privileges in the past.
