Lamar Memorial Library
Five-Year Division Review
Completed Spring 2002

"The library has become the meeting place on campus.  It is the only place where all students go and stay for a while.  Yes, we all check our mail in the student center, but we don't hang around and chat there.  We do that in the library.  You go in to find a book for a term paper and come out four hours later after periods of study and conversation.  It is during these times that we learn so much from each other."

"There are some very important things [in life] you cannot get over a modem.  If everything were available on line, no one would go to church anymore.  There is still something so important about people being in contact with one another.  The library is a place that provides the necessary space for both academic and personal development."

Aimee Olivier, Student Government Association President, 2001/2002

Recommendations for Future Directions

Programs and services of the library are in excellent shape.  Users generally are quite   satisfied  with the services and moderately satisfied with the resources the library provides.  Staffing levels are adequate for the services the library currently offers.  The poor condition of the facility and the less-than-adequate fiscal support for collections must be addressed.  By supporting the library in the following areas, the college can realize to its fullest potential the library's contributions to the excellence of the institution.
