from the Census homepage. Note that there is some overlap among the
various offerings of the site; that is, you can find the same data/information
in more than one place.

Provides useful facts and information about your community, economy, and society via Community Profiles, Quick Tables, Detailed Tables, Maps, and Customized Queries. American FactFinder lets you search, browse, retrieve, view, print, save, and download data from Census data summary files such as the 2000 Decennial Census Detailed Files, American Community Survey Summary Tables, and Economic Census Summary Files.

Allows you to select a state or county on a map and view summary files of population, demographic, and housing data; population estimates from past years; income and poverty estimates; county business patterns; Economic Census data; and general county profiles. You can also view a Tiger map of an area of interest.

As the Nation's principal health statistics agency, the centers compiles statistical information to guide actions and policies to improve the health of the nation's people. The Center's health statistics aim to: document the health status of the population and of important subgroups and; identify disparities in health status and use of health care by race, ethnicity, SES, region, and other population gradients

The National Center for Education Statistics is the primary federal entity for collecting and analyzing data that are related to education in the United States and other nations.

The FBI produces several reports on crime in the United States, hate crime statistics, and other crime statistics. Most of the reporting is for cities with populations over 100,000.
