This service aims to provide a trusted source of selected, high quality Internet information for students, lecturers, researchers and practitioners in the areas of hospitality, leisure, sport and tourism. Altis is created by a core team of information specialists and subject experts based at the University of Birmingham, in partnership with key organizations throughout the UK. Altis is part of the Resource Discovery Network (RDN) and is funded by the Joint Information Systems Committee (JISC).

The Office of Travel and Tourism Industries (OTTI) is the United States' national tourism office for research and policy issues. As part of the U.S. Department of Commerce, International Trade Administration, OTTI is mandated to develop, collect and report on the necessary statistical and market research on international travel to facilitate and guide planning in the public and private sectors. The survey program was initiated in the early 1980's and has provided continuous international air statistics to airlines, airports, government agencies and private organizations. Since 1985, CIC Research has contracted with OTTI to manage one of OTTI's main research programs, the "Survey of International Air Travelers".

To do this, BEA collects source data, conducts research and analysis, develops and implements estimation methodologies, and disseminates statistics to the public.
