Online Employment Services

There are several different ways to send out your scannable resume. You can put it on your personal web page, hoping someone will stumble across it. You can send it (mail or email) to prospective employers, and you can list it with an online resume database. These databases allow job hunters to upload their scannable resumes, search job listings, and research career opportunities. While these databases can help you with your search, this is not an automatic job finding process. The following list is very selective. MC's Career Services has extensive career links.

America's Job Bank

AJB is a cooperative effort between the US Department of Labor and state employment services. AJB lists over 1,300,000 jobs, but they also provide links to Department of Labor statistics. You can search for average job salaries, fastest growing careers, and general career trends. AJB also lists dozens of employment sites for each job category. You can even find relocation material and real estate guides. This site is truly exhaustive.

Monster.com

One of the largest and well-known of these job databases. You can list your resume for free and search for jobs. Monster.com claims over 400,000 job listings.

CareerMosaic

Another resume bank, claiming 100,000 job listings.
