260: Perspectives on the Social Order
Produced by the U.S. Bureau of
the Census, this source presents a variety of statistics on states, counties,
cities, and places in the United States. Subjects covered include crime,
education, housing, income and poverty, labor force and employment,
population, and vital statistics.
Though not as current as the
other reference sources (data through 1980), this source provides more
historical population data for states, counties, and cities (back to the late
1700's in some cases). Volume 2 contains an index of city/county entries, and
1980 population rankings of states, counties, and cities.
Produced by the Center for
Business and Economic Research at the University of Tennessee, the Abstract
provides current (primarily 1994 and 1995) and some historical time series
data for the State of Tennessee and its Metropolitan Statistical Areas,
counties, and towns. Subjects covered include agriculture, construction and
housing, education, employment and earnings, health and vital statistics,
income and prices, and population.
