Idle Eyes

Wild green leaves
swim against my square window.
They look into the room where
I sit,
pressing my fingers onto little square buttons.
I can make clean words that fit neatly within
the frame of this machine,
as it glows onto my dulled face.
Gazing outside, my movement is restricted
to the up and down
and up and down
of furtive fingers.

The leaves are sensual little hula skirts,
having their way with the world beyond my window.
They lean, and fall, and curl up again,
Graceful,
like warm green reckless women,
alone with the sky.
